New brewery breaks cover

It’s not very often we get to herald the emergence of a new brewery, but we welcome the Dead Weight Brewery to the area. The brewery began as a home brewing hobby between two friends, David Tomkins and Dale Punnett, in mid-2019 who wanted to recreate the exciting flavours of the craft beers they drank and experiment with a multitude of ingredients.

The brewery has a nautical theme which stems from a joint naval heritage, Dale’s father was a Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer and David’s family come from a long line of Jamaican sea captains.

Their current 65 litre nano-brewery is ideally suited to small batch production, but they have big ambitions for the future and hope to be able to step up to a 5 BBL (brewery barrel) plant in the near future. Their current range includes a Pilsner, New England Pale Ale, a Hefeweizen, IPA, DIPA, TIPA and an Imperial Stout.
