Happy Birthday Lord Hop

On the 10th December, regulars and customers of Nuneatons’ only micropub, the Lord Hop celebrated its eighth birthday in style with a party organised by the “Friends of the Lord Hop” Facebook group.

Yet more moves

Just as we thought the publicans’ version of Musical Chairs was over for another year, Admiral Taverns through us a curved ball by restructuring some of their estate, making the pub one of their Proper Pub managed houses. This immediately affected the Hare & Hounds off Heath End Road. Licensees Tom & Karen, who only took over the pub at Easter 2023, decided that the new format for the popular community pub didn’t wasn’t for them and decided to seek another venue. As luck would have it, they dropped on lucky with the offer of running the Lime Kilns on the A5 on the outskirts of Hinckley. At the same time Buswells brewery, based at the Lime Kilns, has also been asked to vacate the site.

2024 Pub of the Year & 2025 Good Beer Guide

The clock is ticking, and there’s not much time left to nominate our entries for the 2025 GBG (Good Beer Guide). Nuneaton & Bedworth CAMRA have been allocated 6 entries, down from 7 last year, so your beer scores, which we use as part of the selection process, are more crucial than ever.
Guidance on Beer Scoring can be found in the section: Beer Scoring.

Selection of our Pub of the Year will be made from those GBG nominations

2023 Year End Surprise

Christmas is usually a quiet time for breweries, with all the equipment cleaned and switched off for the holiday period. Not so for Purity who announced they would probably enter administration in the New Year. No sooner had the news hit the headlines, London based equity group, Breal Capital, stepped in to save the day. This acquisition boosts Breal’s portfolio which includes Black Sheep, Brew by Numbers and Brick breweries.
